5 years of Wabisabi

"Beauty in the imperfect and ephemeral, a serene elegance that embraces the natural and transient."

A journey of color and tradition

Each garment in the Wabisabi collection starts with a blank canvas of 100% natural viscose that absorbs the dyes in a unique way, through a delicate and laborious artisanal process in small workshops in Bali; no two are alike.

The shapes and color schemes have evolved, with a clear predominance of earth tones in the tie-dye designs. The beads, shimmering sequins, and seashells are hand-sewn by artisans in a traditional Balinese village, reinforcing our commitment to the local economy and slow fashion.

Wabisabi was born in 2021 and since then it has become our most emblematic tie-dye, the one that defines us and that we carry most within our essence.

From its initial launch in 2021, Wabisabi was more than just another collection: it was a statement of identity. At a time when tie-dye was beginning to tentatively reappear on the runways, Melé Beach decided to go much further. It wasn't about replicating a classic bohemian print, but about reinterpreting it with a completely different artisanal, spiritual, and aesthetic sensibility.

Six seasons ago, in 2019, Melé Beach explored moon-inspired prints with the Moon collection, characterized by its rounded shapes and decorative elements. This already hinted at what would become Wabi-Sabi two years later.

The following year, in 2020, the tie-dye technique continued to be explored with the Aranda collection, which featured more colorful palettes and organic nuances with the addition of sequins bordering the tie-dye design. It was just one step away from creating Melé Beach's most significant collection.

It was in 2021 that the Wabisabi collection germinated: a handcrafted tie-dye dyed in small workshops in Bali, with every drop of color and every embellishment hand-sewn, narrating the Japanese philosophy of finding perfection in imperfection. A distinctive tie-dye style marked by large circles of contrasting colors adorned with gold sequins .

Five years of shared stories

Our customers haven't just worn the collection to idyllic beaches; they've sported it at festivals, on weekend getaways, and during sunsets that stretched into dawn. Every snapshot and every testimonial has strengthened the emotional connection with the brand, and many now associate this print with our Melé Beach brand.

Wabisabi Collection 2022

During these 5 years our Wabisabi collection has been evolving, always maintaining its essence.

For the first three years, the design remained the same, decorated with gold sequins , though the color palette varied. This chromatic representation was carefully studied and selected, adapting the shades to the trends of each year, always in keeping with the essence and most characteristic style of our brand.

Wabisabi Collection 2023

In 2024, a change was introduced, altering the tie-dye pattern: lengthening it and incorporating colors, creating a more organic design. Additionally, seashells were added, creating a perfect harmony with the gold sequins .

Wabisabi Collection 2024

Why does Wabisabi resonate in such a special way?

Because of its authenticity, its unique design, and because it is part of a global trend:

In a world of mass production, "handmade" is a differentiating value.

Its unique design It was unlike anything that had existed before . Born of art, not mass production. Its imperfect print became its most beautiful feature. A symbol of a way of experiencing summer: with soul, with calm, and with purpose.

It's worth noting that tie-dye continues to be on the rise summer after summer.

Now, five years later, we're launching the 2025 edition of this Wabisabi print with a more sophisticated approach while still maintaining its bohemian essence. We offer a collection of designs adapted to different silhouettes and occasions, for a more relaxed and elegant look.

A more subdued color palette made up of five shades that flow like summer and blend with the softness of tie-dye.

Sage Green — a subtle green that exudes calm.

Coconut — off-white, fresh and essential.
Shell — a warm, natural, and serene nude.

Midnight Blue — deep blue with a vibrant soul.

Rock Grey — bluish grey elegance and sobriety with a unique style.

We return to the rounded shape, this season decorated with pearls and classic sequins creating drawings, borders and lines that make this print even more special and unique.
